Asbestos Management Survey
HSG264 Compliant Asbestos Management Survey and Sampling
Health and Safety Executive document HSG264 (Section 2) strongly recommends that the duty holder should not appoint or instruct an independent surveyor to carry out a survey unless the surveyor is competent.
Under current legislation there is a duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises. In order to manage asbestos a survey will often be required. If you are purely looking to comply with legislation then you will require an Asbestos Management Survey.
The purpose of the Asbestos Management Survey is to locate and identify the presence and extent of any suspect asbestos containing materials (ACMs) in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition.
Our surveyor will visit your building and perform a walk around survey. Site plans and any additional asbestos survey information are required PRIOR TO SITE VISIT. If site plans are not present then there will be an additional cost to the survey depending upon the complexity of the building. Typically this works out at between 10% and 25% of the total cost of the survey.
With agreement from the Duty Holder, samples may be taken and sent to a HKAS accredited laboratory for analysis. If samples not instructed, the surveyor will presume any suspected materials are listed as ACMs.
Once the site visit is complete, an Asbestos Management Report will be produced that will contain an Asbestos Register for the building.
